Exciting Summer News

We have sooo much to celebrate this summer!

We embarked on an amazing journey as we re-launched a full Summer PDO Program! We had so much fun on our new adventure with super children, teachers, and families!

In early July, we received official notice that WMDS has been awarded national accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs! The culmination of nine months of intensive effort, the award is a tremendous recognition for our team's hard work and ongoing dedication to quality early childhood education.

Finally, we are already busy preparing for Back-to-School 2022-2023! Our children and families are sweet gifts. And our teachers are simply amazing.

We feel so blessed and look forward to our next adventure!

An Amazing Adventure!

What an AMAZING ADVENTURE! We have one more week of our Summer PDO program. From art to science, story time to s’mores…we learned all about so many things as we went exploring around the pond, flying up in the air, celebrating the Fourth of July, venturing into the forest, going up to the mountains, and trekking to the desert! We learned so much and had SO MUCH FUN!

Our children and families are such a blessing. And our teachers are so gifted. This summer went by quickly, but it has been A JOY!

Bubble Party!!!

Bubble Party!!! This was a year to celebrate! Our community has come through together and stronger than ever. In addition to navigating the collective challenges of our world, we completed the National Accreditation Commission process in May, proudly maintaining our accreditation since 1990. All of our families came out to celebrate, blow bubbles, and enjoy Kona Ice. We have so much for which to be grateful...especially our teachers and families...the heart of our day school!

We Mourn with Uvalde

The morning of this school day, we are heartbroken. We all weep and mourn with Robb Elementary and Uvalde. I grew up only miles away in another small Texas town. A place that always felt safe and sweet. As an educator, a school director, and a mother of three, all I hope for most is for every child to be truly safe and able to share a special light with the world.

I hugged my children this morning. I took a photo of my eighth grader going to school in his future high school sweatshirt. My sixth grader watched our Westbury end-of-year video in the back seat of my car, and she sweetly smiled at all the little faces. I will see my fourth grader again soon this morning for her poetry recital. And tomorrow as a Day School, we will celebrate a spring program we have called "Peace & Hope."

I know all our Westbury educators and families join me in deepest sorrow, sympathy, and prayer. We mourn with the children, families, educators, and special community of Uvalde. Our hearts are weary with unspeakable pain, but we must continue to voice our love for every child and always fight to keep each one safe from harm.

Today, Westbury will have a school prayer and blessing of the children by Pastor Danny. We pray for God's loving protection and healing grace.

But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak. -Isaiah 40:31
